Round 2 Preview: Adelaide City vs. MUWFC

MUWFC will play in the WNPL Match of the Round for the 2nd week in a row when we face bitter rivals Adelaide City in Round 2 of the 2018 WNPL SA season, which coincides with Female Football Week.

Both teams are coming off wins in Round 1, with Adelaide City beating Cumberland United last week thanks to a Tiarn Powell brace, while MUWFC knocked Adelaide University off their feet with a 4-1 win last week to hit the ground running, thanks in part to a Chrissy Panagaris wonder strike, her 20th goal in her last 23 appearances, which many are calling not only Goal of the Season, but the best goal they’ve ever seen at WNPL level. 6 players made their debut for MUWFC in the opening game of the season, with Stella Rigon, Kelsey Zafiridis, Racheal Quigley, Elle Pirintzis, Chanel Todino and Nicole Calder all making appearances, with Quigley and Zafiridis both hitting the score sheet to start their MUWFC careers off in fine fashion

These matches between the 2 bitter rivals are always hard fought battles with a lot of feeling, and are certainly not to be missed for anyone interested in the women’s game.

With all 4 WNPL games being played at the same venue on Friday night, our WNPL Reserves will face Adelaide City on Sunday at Adelaide City Park, Oakden with a 3:00pm kickoff. The WNPL Reserves will be looking to kick start their season with a win after a disappointing 3-3 draw with Adelaide University last Friday night.
