Round 5 Preview – MUWFC vs Adelaide City

The first month of the 2019 WNPL season has flown by, and as we enter Round 5, it’s the old rivalry between MUWFC and Adelaide City that fires up again.

MUWFC and Adelaide City are the only remaining unbeaten teams in the WNPL, and both will be eager to keep an unbeaten record intact.

It has been an extremely solid week on the track, with intensity and focus all round.

The demand for perfection is high from within the club, not so much because of the opposition, but more so because it is now 5 rounds in, the rest of the teams are settling, and there is a major need to keep the rhythm and keep building on what has been a good start to the season.

Selections will be tough this week, with Ness Reed overcoming a niggle and looking to get herself straight back into the side. Mirella Scalzi and Zoe Hammond are pushing claims for a Reserves game this week, and will then look to push for First Team selection, while Olivia Beer, Roxy Dodd and Chanel Todino remain on the sidelines with injury.

This is sure to be an eagerly contested fight to the end as always, and both sides will be pushing to get an early season win over their arch rivals.

This match is also MUWFC’s first “Host Match”, meaning that all gate takings go back into our club, so bring along your family and friends, and help our girls in red to a big rivalry win!
